Seems legit. I always thought this was going to be one of those things that is never answered.

The ripper case is "solved" every year, looks real flimsy to me. The thing about prostitutes is that they have a lot of people's DNA on them...if you know what I mean.
In all seriousness I'm happy in my assessment that it was Bury, I think a lot of people overlook him on the fact that he was hanged for a murder, and it ruins the mystique of the elusiveness of the Ripper. In my mind he had the psychological profile to do it, a history that would suggest he is capable, lived in the area, murders stopped after he moved to Dundee, and then other small bits and pieces like a confession, and an item that may have belonged to one of the victims in his possession.

the scarf with the dna was his - not the whores. And DNA that links to someone who was already a suspect, and a suspect whose induction into the nut house matches the end of the killings... it does make a pretty strong case

From what I've read there is no evidence the shawl belongs to him, it was just found near the scene, allegedly. And on top of that I'm yet to see the story of a policeman picking it up and giving it to his wife (why???) confirmed either, the timelines don't match up from the police reports. Furthermore, to make his theory work, the parameters of the DNA testing would have been so umbrella broad that I'd doubt the findings would be considered legitimate, mitrocondrial DNA is shared by hundreds of thousands of people.
That's just like the basic stuff, on top of that you'd have to account for a lack of aggressive history, how a barber could perform medically precise incisions in pitch darkness, or how a schizophrenic could plan out and execute such well timed murders.
If you actually look into his insanity it was paranoia and self-harm, nothing violent, and nothing to do with women, he was described as "harmless" by psychologists in the asylum.
He's always going to be a name, but this breakthrough is just like all those other breakthroughs that occur every few months, Maybrick Diary anyone?

Just watch From Hell with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham, that'll solve the riddle.
