The gaming community on Youtube is a great place for entertainment and knowledge. I am going to compile a list of some of the best retro gaming channels on Youtube. Check these channels out, and if you know of more, please let me know so I can add them to the list.
The Angry Video Game Nerd
www.youtube.com/user/JamesNintendoNerd
most people are well aware of the Angry Video Game Nerd. He reviews bad games by cursing and using poopy jokes. Good stuff
Pat the NES Punk
www.youtube.com/user/PatTheNESpunk
Pat also reviews old NES games. He almost has a complete NES collection and is very knowledgable about video game history.
The Game Chasers
www.youtube.com/user/Captain8Bit
the Game Chasers are pretty much rip offs of American Pickers, where they go to flea markets, thrift stores, and craigslist finds. They have a pretty immature sense of humor (guys in their mid 30s acting like high school kids). Great show.
Retro Liberty/NES Pursuit
www.youtube.com/user/RetroLiberty
similar to the Game Chasers except these are two Cali hipsters, one of who seems to have ADHD.
8 Bit Eric
www.youtube.com/user/messyvideogamenerd
Eric is his own person. Hard to describe, just check him out. He hangs out with The Game Chasers
Arcade Impossible
www.youtube.com/user/arcadeimpossible
This guy goes out and finds deals on old arcade cabinets, fixes them up, and adds them to his personal arcade he has built in his basement. The ultimate gaming man cave.
OKChief420
www.youtube.com/user/okchief420
The biggest thing Chief is known for is going dumpster diving at Gamestops. He also hits up all of the thrift stores around him and finds a lot of rare stuff for cheap.
Metal Jesus Rocks
www.youtube.com/user/MetalJesusRocks
Metal Jesus is a gamer in his 40s who used to work for Sierra (the old PC gaming company before they were bought out by EA). He puts out shows every week and discusses various retro video gaming topics. Lots of episodes about hidden gems for certain systems.
Game Sack
www.youtube.com/user/MrGameSack
Two guys, one a Nintendo fanboy, the other a Sega fanboy. Each week they put out high quality episodes discussing a topic/reviewing games from a certain category. Check them out.
The Gaming Historian
www.youtube.com/user/mcfrosticles
the Gaming Historian puts out videos sporadically, but when he does they are great. He'll pick a subject about retro gaming, and it feels like being in an informative history course.
Classic Game Room and CGR Undertow
www.youtube.com/user/InecomCompany
Mark from CGR has been reviewing games online since the 90s. He covers games from the 70s all the way up to the present. If you want to see a game review that wasn't bought and paid for by Microsoft, EA, or Activision, check him out.
www.youtube.com/user/CGRundertow
This is Mark's spinoff channel, where Derrick, who works for Mark, reviews games in a similar format to Mark, just from a younger person's prospective. Derrick is in his 20s. Where Mark is probably closer to 40.
Rerez
www.youtube.com/user/RerezTV
Shane Luis puts out some almost television quality videos about various video game topics. Always insightful.
NES Complex
www.youtube.com/user/NESComplex
NES complex covers all things. Nintendo from a different perspective than the usual youtube gamer channel.
Gamester81
www.youtube.com/user/Gamester81
Gamester 81 is a popular reviewer on youtube. He doesn't review games, rather tells his thoughts on game systems and has insightful dialogue about topics in the gaming community.
JHMDF/The Video Game Sellers
www.youtube.com/user/JHMDF
the personal assistant to the guitar player from Korn, this guy has a booth at a flea market where he resells video games. He's one of the good guy resellers who doesn't price gouge. His weekly antics at the flea market with a bunch of nerds is quite fun and entertaining.
