When I was in college I thought about becoming a teacher for a while. Hearing the way you guys talk, I'm glad I didn't go down that career path. Just wondering, do you teachers find it rewarding or as rewarding as you thought it would be? Do you feel like you're making a difference? Or do you just feel like you're babysitting 30 assholes Not to took my own horn here, but I am a really good teacher according to the aides that come into my class. They would know because they go into numerous classrooms per week and many of them request to their students to be in my room. Many students really enjoy my class, learn a lot and they are the usually best behaved in my class. Many students hate my class because they can't get away with anything. Many students really enjoy my class because the other kids can't get away with anything. Many days it is challenging because I am so good so they give a bunch of the horrible ones to me. I have the most special ed kids in the school and 5 students that can't speak any English. I still find it rewarding because kids will come back and say hi like on back to school night. Biggest problem today is the new common core standards which are such a joke. I did a lesson with it yesterday and it was way too difficult of a reading for even my best students. The students that can't even write a paragraph will struggle big time with it and will definitely flunk out of school.

Wait, you mean students who can barely put a sentence together, let alone respond to a passage, now need to compare and contrast multiple passages of text and struggle? [HASH]FuckingCommonCore

Aspiring criminal mastermind. I'm new at it, and it's trickier than you would think
They say that crime doesn’t pay, but I don’t think they’re doing it right. Some crime doesn’t pay granted - like loitering or exposing yourself. There’s just no money in it. But I still think that a lot of crime does pay. Usually the crimes that do pay fall into the general “theft” category.
I still think kidnapping could pay, but I’ve been doing it wrong. Kidnapping homeless people is just more trouble that it’s worth for several reasons.
After you kidnap someone you need to be able to contact someone that you think might be able to raise the ransom. The odds are good that a homeless guy's friends will mostly just be other homeless people who have no fixed address. So you end up spending days wandering around shelters and train yards looking for someone named “Crackhead Eddie” and hope that Eddie is sober enough to remember he was ever friends with the guy you kidnapped.
Even when you collect a ransom it’s not going to be anything great. The best you can hope for is a old smelly stocking cap or a couple of garbage bag full of aluminum cans. One time a got a can of food as a ransom. The label was missing so no one was sure what was inside. It turned out to be pumpkin pie filling.
The biggest problem with kidnapping homeless people is that wherever you hide them it’s almost always going to be a step up from where they were staying before . So even after the ransom was paid a lot of the time you can’t get them to ever leave. I thought about listing him on Craigslist, but they said that would be considered human trafficking which isn't allowed under their new Terms of Service rules.
So you end up with a homeless guy living in your tool shed. You just have to wait until someone else tries to kidnap him from the shed.
Kidnapping bums is the worst idea I’ve had since I tried to blackmail the neighbor’s dog.

I work in retail, 40 hours a week. Plus, I sometimes tutor writing and Accounting, mainly. Sometimes, I also tutor some Math subjects, in addition to coaching youth league basketball. I have a semester or two left to finish a Bachelor's in Accounting, so I'm excited to do that, too.
